The Neighborhood Threat

Man, with the Brewers looking the like the Brewers of old (circa 2005), and the Bucks...being the Bucks, and Packers training camp like a million years away... this is indeed the worst time of the year for a WI sports fan.

Amazingly, it didn't make me feel any better. I just kind of of feel hollow and numb. Man, I need a beer or something...

I'm a Packer fan, but you gotta love the Bears. They are quite simply, SUPERSTARS. They are a team that have transcended the NFL world to infiltrate our pop culture sub-conscious. They manufacture stars, first there was the Galloping Ghost, Harold "Red" Grange, and then a certain linebacker named Butkus. In the 80's they just made themselves stars by moonlighting as a Rap group known as the Chicago Bears. They ruled the planet with their hit song and video, "The Superbowl Shuffle." and made it cool for people to wear Blue Blockers, sweater vests, giant mustaches and slicked back hair, all at the irony-free same time.

The Superbowl Shuffle was such a phenomenon, it helped make rap safe for white folks, and it inspired the strangest things, like this corporate video made somewhere deep in the South, hundreds of miles from Lake Michigan. This is quite possibly the greatest piece of corporate video ever made.
